Narendra Modi , who secured a convincing win for the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Gujarat assembly polls, will be sworn in as the chief minister for a third consecutive term on Tuesday.
Governor Naval Kishore Sharma will swear in Modi, 57, at 12.50 pm at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Gandhinagar, a BJP statement said.
The swearing-in ceremony will coincide with the birthday of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Earlier, Modi was scheduled to be sworn in on December 27.
As a formality, the newly-elected BJP MLAs will be meeting in Gandhinagar later in the day to elect Modi as the leader of the BJP legislature party.
All the 117 BJP MLAs including Modi who have been elected to the 182-seat strong state assembly will be meeting at the Town Hall.
After his election, Modi is expected to call on the governor to formally apprise him of his election as the leader of the BJP legislature party.
